WBA is the everyday BMW WMI, WBS is reserved for M cars built by BMW M GmbH, WBX and WBY cover X-series and i-series respectively. VINs starting 4US, 5UX or 5YM were assembled at Spartanburg, South Carolina — that plant builds the X3, X4, X5, X6 and X7 for worldwide export, so a US-built BMW SUV is the norm rather than the exception. 3MW indicates Mexican assembly at San Luis Potosí, home of the 2 Series and 3 Series.

What a BMW decode returns
