Reading a Jeep VIN
Older Jeeps use 1J4 and 1J8; anything built since the Fiat Chrysler era falls in the 1C4 / 3C4 blocks shared with Chrysler and Dodge. The oddity is ZAC — the Renegade is built in Melfi, Italy on a Fiat platform, so it carries an Italian Z-region VIN despite wearing a Jeep badge. The Wrangler and Gladiator both come out of Toledo, Ohio.
