Reading a Ram VIN
Ram became a separate brand from Dodge in 2009, so trucks from 2010 onward use the 1C6 / 3C6 blocks while older ones carry Dodge's 1D7 and 3D7. A leading 3 means Saltillo, Mexico, which builds heavy-duty Ram trucks; 1C6 is Sterling Heights, Michigan for the 1500. Position 5-7 encodes cab configuration and bed length, which is worth checking against a listing.
