Reading a Renault VIN
VF1 is Renault's WMI, with VF6 used for commercial vehicles. Renault hasn't sold cars in the US since 1987, so decoding a Renault VIN through NHTSA yields region, manufacturer and year but no equipment data. Renault, Dacia and Nissan share platforms but keep entirely separate WMI blocks.

What a Renault decode returns
